The purpose of this workshop is to introduce fundamental aspects of contemporary floorwork technique, incorporating elements like balance, instability, falling, releasing and finding support in a partner.

The workshop is structured to explore a variety of rolls, slides, rotations, and dynamic movement phrases characterized by changes in level: from lying to sitting, sitting to standing and back into the floor, from the floor into the air, jumping to falling.

We will learn exercises of varying lengths and levels of difficulty, all the while challenging the limits of our physicality.

In the partnering section of the workshop participants will work in pairs and learn movement sequences involving leaning, pushing, weight transfer, guiding and lifting.

About me:

Vova Zak was a former dancer with the Vertigo Dance Company, Kolben Dance, Kamea and Ido Tadmor.

Graduate of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (bachelor’s degree in dance and education).

Teaches contemporary floorwork and partnering, as part of teacher education programs, the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, professional dance companies and high-school dance programs.
