Honoring with Love and Action: A Memorial Fund in Memory of Sivan Weil z”l
‘Invincible’ - that’s how Sivan Weil’s friends described the outstanding Egoz Unit soldier. Born in Tel Aviv in 2003 and raised in Ra’anana, Sivan was a rare combination of extraordinary physical and mental strength, true humility, and a generous heart.
As a combat soldier in the Egoz Unit, Sivan demonstrated remarkable abilities and unwavering dedication to his comrades. On October 7, he took part in the battle to free Kibbutz Kissufim, where he and his team saved many lives. Even after undergoing emergency surgery and a five-week recovery, he chose to return to the battlefield alongside his fellow soldiers. On March 31, 2024, he fell in battle in Gaza at just 20 years old.
Sivan’s family chose to honor his memory in a unique way that reflects his two great passions: skiing and deep friendships. The memorial fund established in his name will sponsor and support rehabilitative ski expeditions for wounded soldiers, focusing on the healing power of extreme sports.
The first expedition will launch in 2025 with 15 of Sivan’s fellow unit members who were injured in combat. Guided by Sivan’s brothers, Natan and Ido, along with his closest friends, the participants will embark on a recovery journey in the snowy landscapes Sivan loved so much.
In partnership with the Erez Association, which specializes in adaptive ski vacations for people with disabilities, the fund will provide a comprehensive professional support system, including training sessions and personalized equipment.Sivan lived a life filled with meaning, leaving behind a legacy of courage, generosity, and love for others. Keshet is honored to serve as the professional home for this meaningful memorial initiative.
The fund is currently raising donations to increase the number of participants in future expeditions, with 100% of contributions dedicated to these life-changing journeys.
