Course - Knowledge of a Person's Biography

This course is designed to expose participants to the unique therapeutic method of biographical counseling, based on the anthroposophical knowledge brought into the world by Dr. Rudolf Steiner. The course combines theoretical knowledge with touching upon and connecting to the personal biography of the student, offering a new way and direction for reflecting upon it. It bridges the universal cosmic knowledge about the human being and the development of humanity with the unique and singular biography of each individual, thereby touching on the essence of the human as a "man-world" entity.

Course Syllabus

The Study Outline

The student:

As the learning process is independent, the student is expected to be responsible for managing his time and manner of studying.

Supervising counselor:

Each student is accompanied by a biographical counselor in order to assist with the learning process. The student may address him/her with any question or problem. The counselor, in turn, receives guidance and assistance from the 'Hotam' School’s team.

Each unit is available for one year from the date of enrollment in the course.

Course Structure

The course is composed of eight online lessons that include:

- Theoretical knowledge, relevant Steiner’s quotations and video clips, as well as referral to articles that are relevant for each lesson.

- Information regarding work method: The student will receive homework assignments that link the theoretical knowledge to his/her personal biography.

- Individual tutoring that includes checking and personal reviewing of all assignments, as well as a 1-hour one-on-one discussion, once every two lessons (total of 4).

- At any stage the student may view the course as a whole and position him/herself according to the complete course map.

Eligibility

The three units of the course will provide knowledge and tools for understanding human biography according to the division into Seven Year Cycles and the regularity of the formative ages. It will also enable an introduction to key topics in human biography and anthroposophy such as - the four temperaments, counter forces and their role in the development of humanity, the Lesser Guardian of the Threshold and the Greater Guardian of the Threshold

Beyond the acquired knowledge and the deep personal processes that can be undergone through participation in the course, the first unit (body) is a necessary basic course in biographical counseling for people who wish to continue with a Karma Year studies. In order to get a complete picture of the human being on its three levels - body, soul and spirit, it is highly recommended to study the three units of the full course. The course does not constitute training for biographical consulars.

Who is the course for?

The course is intended for individuals who are interested in learning, gaining tools, and undergoing processes of personal and professional development through the unique knowledge of Anthroposophical biographical counseling, but due to technical reasons (place of residence, health condition, financial situation, etc.) are unable to study in a regular educational setting at the moment. The course is designed for therapists, teachers, and educators who wish to expand their knowledge and toolkit.

Information for the Working Method

Within each lesson questions for biographical work are embedded. We recommend reading the entire lesson once without answering the questions. Afterward, it is advised to read the lesson again, review the questions, and answer them in a Word document. At the end of the lesson, send your answers to the biographical counselor accompanying you in the course, and they will return them to you with personal feedback.
