What is shinui dayarim?

Residential modifications, commonly referred to as "Shinui Diyarim," refers to altering plans when purchasing a home on paper from a developer. In the "shinui dayarim" process, we work within very clear boundaries, making the planning and design of an interior designer essential for anyone wanting a home tailored to their needs.  It's a process that demands timely decisions on revised plans, kitchen design, and material selections, all well in advance of moving in.

Overwhelming???

My design consultation sessions are tailored precisely for such ventures. Together, we'll bring your vision to life, ensuring every dream and desire is meticulously accounted for with my expert guidance.
Throughout this journey, I'll be by your side, navigating the complexities and crafting the perfect design solution step by step.

So how does it work?

1. Initial phone call:
We begin with scheduling an introductory call. Before the call, you will need to fill out a short online questionnaire (INFO) to gather initial information. Completing this questionnaire will help me get a better understanding of what you're looking for and come prepared for the introductory call. By the end of the call, I'll be able to specify the type of design consultation meeting that best suits your needs. In the end we'll schedule an in-person consultation meeting at my office.

2. Sending materials:
Before our meeting, you will be required to fill out an additional questionnaire (DEEP DOWN). It is an in-depth questionnaire to understand your design aesthetic and lifestyle, it allows the ability to focus on what your dreams for your new home are. If you do not have a design style yet, I recommend starting to search. Please send me the plans from the contractor (DWG file) and any relevant material received from the contractor.
The sending of all materials is your responsibility- including requesting any and all files from the developer.
3. Prep for meeting:
Based on all the materials you've sent, I start the planning stage as well as create inspiration boards and initial sketches/digital plans (depending on the path you've selected), which are a result of all the information I've gathered from you. I also prepare samples of materials for you, so you can examine them closely.

4. In-person consultation:
During the meeting, we'll finalize the layout. We'll go over every detail and focus on unresolved issues. This stage isn't theoretical; it's practical! We'll sit down with the layout and work it out together. Additionally, we'll refine the design style and characterize each space using materials, colors, and decorative elements for inspiration.
5. After the consultation:
At the end of the meeting, you will leave with a design concept and initial plan in hand, at the level of a sketch/computerized plan (depending on path you chose). You will receive explanations about the types of materials available to you, and I will explain how to build the budget (depth of coverage depends on path chosen).
There is no time to waste

Your journey starts N-O-W!

Nice to meet you!

Hi, I'm Leah Wechsler, wife to Dvir, and mother to 3 amazing kids: Ayal, Nili, and Aviya.

I am from a religious home and made aliyah on my own after high school from New Jersey. The decision to make aliyah was simple - I felt like I was finally home.

For the past 10 years I've lived in a religious yishuv, and have been lucky enough to learn how special it is to be a part of a community. There is a lot of love and support within a small community. Living here made me realize that it's what I want for myself and my family. I aspire to contribute to the community as much as I gain from it.

I have a B.design in interior design and visual communication from the College of Management Academic Studies in Rishon LeZion. I have experience in renovations and specialize in residential design. Like you, I myself went through the same process just a year ago, and I know how confusing, scary, and exhausting it can be, therefore I want to help others by making the process easier.
I aspire to make the construction process pleasant, filled with laughter, and easy for the client.
The start of each new project begins with excitement. The experience of something new, meeting new people, that I am going to help them  turn their dream into reality, fills me with butterflies in my stomach and my heart. Each project and client has a special place in my heart.

I'm not just an interior designer; I'm a life designer.  The home should improve the quality of our lives and be a place where we want to spend time. I'm here to help you on your journey.
Recommendations for the studio...

We just bought our first home and didn't realize everything that is involved in a new project. It's not just furniture and paint samples - you have to consider electrical outlets, light switches, and so much more. Leah thought about every tiny detail of how we would live our day to day lives in our new home. She's with us every step of the way. Without Leah, we would be lost.

I used Leah Wechsler to design our new apartment in Ashkelon. She was very professional, organized, timely and creative. She showed different options based on space and really tried to understand our needs to come up with a design that suits us. I highly recommend Leah.

Debra and Aaron Bassan
From the initial meeting with Leah,I felt that she was listening to what I wanted. She has amazing communication and constantly made sure that my home would be perfect for me.

Ruth Baker
Working with Leah Wechsler over the past year as she has helped us design our apartment in Ashkelon has been an absolute pleasure. Her knowledge of design, her attention to detail and her familiarity with the local merchants has made what could be an overwhelming process so much easier. Having Leah guide us, English speakers who are currently still living outside of Israel as our apartment is being built, through the selection and purchase of cabinets, tile, counters, closets (and even the number and placement of electrical outlets and light fixtures) etc., has truly alleviated any concerns and worries we may have had over being able to set up our apartment while not being present in Ashkelon.
We highly recommend Leah Wechsler to anyone who needs an interior designer whether they are currently living in Israel or still living abroad.

F.A.Q.S

After you register and leave me your contact details. I'll get back to you to schedule a half-hour introductory phone call. Before the call, you fill out an online questionnaire (INFO questionnaire) with initial information.During the introductory call, we'll go over your answers together, and I'll be able to delve deeper and examine your needs. At the end of the call, we'll decide on the appropriate path for you and which consultation meeting you need.

Yes! Unlike renovations, buying on paper has its own rules and timelines. In most cases the companies will give you a very short 1-2 months to make any and all changes. This isn't a lot of time, so deciding on how to envision your future home sooner is better, because if you wait too long to make decisions there is likelihood they won't allow changes to be made.

First of all don’t worry, I have experience in handling client projects while they are abroad. Meetings can be held over zoom as they would in person. Timing for these meetings are based on israel hours but I have one evening a week for foreign clients for zoom meetings. If you are not in the country for material choices and kitchen design, I will choose based on what was concluded in our meeting and of course no final decision or payment is made without your approval.

A consultation meeting with me is an informative and in-depth working meeting for everything and anything, from which you will leave with a lot of value, tools and knowledge to continue the journey. The payment is because you're receiving professional service during the meeting. But it's not an expense! It's an investment!
The cost of the meeting is deducted if we continue with my full design packages.

This is exactly why we will have an initial phone call  before the consultation meeting, to get to know each other and feel if we’re right to work together.

The goal of the consultation meeting is to design the home according to your needs and dreams. Based on the answers to the deep down questionnaire, I prepare inspiration boards and gather materials for the meeting that will reflect your style. During the meeting, through questions, listening, material choices, and inspiration boards we will create - we will understand together what style is right for you.

Based on your responses to the deep down questionnaire, I can help build a budget and focus on what you are capable of doing with it. Keep in mind for residential changes there are stages and importance to their order. Changes such as layout, electrical, lighting, kitchen design have to be taken into account in the early stages of the process for infrastructure preparation.Any steps that are not within the contractor's scope of work can be postponed until receiving the keys, allowing time to allocate the budget.

Looking forward to speaking with you soon.
